About Ettinger

Amy received her Master’s Degree from Southeastern Louisiana University in Counseling Education, and is a practicing therapist at Acadian Care clinics in Mandeville and Hammond. She enjoys helping clients of all ages and backgrounds reach their goals individually or as families.

Amy believes that effective therapy is founded on a mutually honest, trusting and respectful  relationship between counselor and client(s), fosters connection, communication, and understanding, facilitates the change process of personal growth, and supports the attainment of client-set goals. Amy works from a holistic wellness model of therapy and tailors treatment for each client using a variety of models including family systems, CBT, play and expressive art therapies, as well as solution focused brief therapy. Amy believes in emphasizing the unique strengths of each client, and instilling hope in their ability to change, adapt and overcome life’s challenges. 

Currently at Acadian Care Amy is helping children and families experiencing problems related to life stressors such as divorce, death, and trauma, as well as issues relating to parenting, adjustment problems, attention-deficit/ hyperactivity disorder (ADHD/ADD), anxiety, oppositional defiant disorder (ODD), depression, anger management, sibling rivalry and social skills concerns.

Outside of work, Amy enjoys spending quality time with family and friends. She enjoys volunteering, traveling, reading, gardening and music.
