About Acadian Care

Acadian Care is a dedicated group of Psychiatrists, Child Psychiatrists, Psychologists, Nurse Practitioners, and Therapists, proudly serving these locations: Mandeville, Covington, Hammond, Slidell, and New Orleans. We opened our doors in 2003, and our goal is to provide better service to the community every day we come to work. Our psychiatrists, and psychologists can treat Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, ADHD, ADD, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD), Autism, Bipolar Disorder, as well as other psychiatric diagnosis. Though our clinic focuses mainly on children, we are able to treat some adults on a case by case basis. Psychological testing is available as well. Stimulant, and non-stimulant medicine is available to treat ADHD. For more information about disorders that can be evaluated and treated by our clinic, please follow the following link to the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry’s: Facts for Families. Thank you.

Our philosophy in the use of medicine for ADHD, ADD, OCD, Depression, Bipolar Disorder, Autism, and Anxiety:

We believe that medicine shouldn’t feel like it’s being “forced”. For any illness, be it: ADHD, OCD, or Major Depression, if a medicine can be avoided by our psychiatrists, and nurse practitioners based on a risk benefit analysis, then we will do our best to use only psychological tools to help your child. However, if a medicine is agreed upon, we will always try and use the lowest possible dose. We will provide our patients options; if a medicine is indicated based upon standard of care criteria, we will inform you; if you are not ready to try a medicine we will respect your decision, and look for other ways to help. We understand that psychiatric disorders, and behavioral issues require treating the whole patient. At every visit, we will look at overall physical health, emotional support, coping skills, family dynamics, school or work performance, and any other area of concern that can possibly help our patients get better. We want our patients better, we understand that our success is tied to your happiness.
