Medical Intern / Volunteer Opportunities at Acadian Care Clinic

Acadian Care would like to announce formalized Volunteer and Clinical Intern Services!

At Acadian Care, we are excited about being able to offer volunteer services to students eighteen and above at our clinics in Slidell and Mandeville in St. Tammany Parish. Student volunteers and interns have been helping for years at Acadian Care. We are excited to say now that the process has now been formalized with training manuals, clinic specific attire, an orientation time period and a more clearly defined role in the clinic. This has resulted in a much more rewarding experience for our volunteers! As behavioral health providers to children of Louisiana and Mississippi, we care about the health of children in our communities and the evolving future of medicine. We take pride in our continual expansions and we take great pleasure in sharing our knowledge and experience with hopeful clinicians who show interest in caring for children. This volunteer / intern opportunity is targeted toward prospective students in pursuit of careers as doctors, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, nurses, counselors and therapists.

Some skills and duties expected of students / volunteers are as follows:
•Ability to follow HIPAA and patient privacy guidelines without exception
•Maintain professionalism at all times while interacting with patients in a kind and professional manner
•Maintain workflow by helping develop efficient ways to manage patient care
•Maintain patient care by settling patients into clinician rooms, keeping the waiting room as empty as possible at all times
•Volunteers will learn to understand and gain a mastery of new equipment and new techniques, including electronic medical records
•Ability to understand clinic policies and procedures
•Flexibility to travel between clinic locations as needed

This opportunity will be granted to competitive, intelligent, and responsible students who are passionate about their future as a health care provider.  Please email kim@acadiancare.com with any inquiries or interests on how you can join the volunteer program. After sending an email, an application may be sent to the prospective intern /volunteer. Applications must be completed two months in advance to desired time of volunteering or pursuing your internship. Interviews are required. We are looking only for enthusiastic and caring individuals. Once a successful match is made, a background check and scrub fitting will be arranged.
